The contemporary art scene is hotting up in the USA; partly due to the hedge-funds speculative activities; partly due to the museums trying to catch up with one another. However, according to Artnet the private collectors are not necessarily looking at their published auction-house prices but are trying to buy directly from the artists themselves on the internet.

The following pictures give us Europeans some sense of the direction of the new crop of 'contemporary artists' and their works:-
